More Tariffs for China on the Horizon

Negotiations between China and the United States seem to have it another standstill, causing President Trump to announce a plan to “impose a 10 percent tariff on an additional $300 billion worth of Chinese imports next month”. A sign of only further escalation in the now year-long trade war, this latest announcement comes as a bit of a surprise. Just a couple of months ago President Trump agreed to “not to impose more tariffs” after his meeting with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.

It has been nearly two decades since the Small Business Act, or SBA, has been comprehensively updated and, in order for the United States to remain competitive, it’s time for it to change. Designed to “aid, counsel, assist and protect” the interests of small business, leaving it unchanged is hurting many small businesses that are in need of funding. If given the advantage of federal funding, many small businesses across the country would be able to advance their research and development efforts, giving them the opportunity to infuse the American market with innovation and capital.

What is France’s Digital Tax Really All About?

The White House and France are headed towards trouble thanks to the French President Emmanuel Macron’s latest announcement to follow through with a so-called “digital tax”, which would impose a tax on some of America’s most well-known digital giants, like Facebook and Google. Although President Trump has warned against it, all signs point towards the tax becoming reality.
